October in Ecuador brought team building weekend for the Rock Family Foundation team of 15. Our team met together for training with Casa Viva and a weekend of relaxation and bonding as well. It is amazing to me to see what God has done from three of us missionary ladies brainstorming around a table and dreaming an impossible dream to a full team of professional Ecuadorian leaders working together to make a difference for vulnerable children in Ecuador. The following week the team traveled to Quito where they presented to over 400 Ecuadorian government professionals alongside Casa Viva from Costa Rica. The dream of a family based solution for vulnerable children in Ecuador was presented and Casa Viva shared all the steps necessary to make it a reality in Ecuador. Our foster boys, Pedro and Jonnathan even had a chance from their apartment in Argentina to share their personal stories with an auditorium full of judges and plea for something better for the future of other children. It was truly a beautiful moment of seeing God take their pain and begin to make beauty from the ashes. Tree of Life Christian School entrusted us once again with 17 of their high schoolers as we traveled to Costa Rica for a 7 day ministry trip. We prayed for eyes to see God and hearts to know Him better and that is exactly what happened! What a great time of watching God meet these kids where they are and ushering them closer to Himself. So many spaces where heaven opened up and lives were impacted by His love. It truly is an honor to be invited into disciplining these awesome kids! Oh and the group we worked with in Costa Rica mentioned that this team was their favorite of all 8 years of ministry with over 30 teams! I am currently looking for opportunities for 4 of kids to serve overseas for a gap year before they start college! And...yes that is our 14 year old Sofia in the picture too, she helped "co lead" the team and did a fantastic job!
