This past year marked a significant step forward in the mission to ensure that children and youth in Ecuador grow up in safe, loving family environments. Through faith, collaboration, and perseverance, important foundations were laid—foundations that now shape the focus and vision for the year ahead.
Celebrating the Progress of the Past Year
In 2025, Centro Familiar La Roca experienced meaningful growth in its efforts to promote foster care as a compassionate and effective alternative to institutional care. One of the most impactful achievements was the strengthening of relationships with government entities, faith communities, and international organizations—all united by a shared commitment to protecting vulnerable children.
Church engagement played a vital role throughout the year. In cities such as Guayaquil and Cuenca, pastors and church leaders welcomed conversations about foster care, opening doors for education, prayer, and action. These moments reaffirmed a core belief of the ministry: lasting change happens when God’s people respond with open hearts and homes.
Another major milestone was the investment in professional training. Through collaboration with Casa Viva Solutions, a respected leader in foster care across Latin America, La Roca helped facilitate training for government staff and professionals transitioning from institutional care models to family-based care. Hosting in-person conferences in Quito brought together judges, lawyers, technical teams, and child welfare professionals—laying critical groundwork for long-term systemic change.
International partnership also expanded. A visit from My Village Ministries, based in Ohio, strengthened cross-border collaboration and encouraged Ecuadorian church leaders through shared tools, systems, and stories of family restoration. These partnerships reinforced the truth that foster care is not only about providing temporary homes, but also about healing families and communities.
Looking Ahead: A Year Focused on Partnership, Care, and Sustainability (My Role)
Building on this momentum, the coming year brings a renewed focus through my role as: Partnership Development & Foster Care Consultant—a position designed to deepen relationships, strengthen people, and ensure sustainable ministry growth.
At its core, my role exists to serve as a bridge: connecting U.S.-based churches, organizations, and supporters with foster care programs in Ecuador. By cultivating meaningful partnerships, sharing impact stories, and coordinating visits and communication, the ministry can continue to grow in both resources and prayerful support.
Equally important is the commitment to member care. The year ahead prioritizes the spiritual, emotional, and relational well-being of staff and key volunteers. My role will be to provide encouragement, prayer, and intentional support to help foster resilience and unity—essential elements for those serving in emotionally demanding contexts.
My role will also emphasize foster family selection and training, ensuring that families are prepared, supported, and equipped with both trauma-informed best practices and a Christ-centered foundation. Ongoing consultation strengthens foster parents and staff alike, helping children from hard places experience compassion, stability, and hope.
Occasionally, as the consultant, I will also provide guidance on complex foster care cases, offering ethical, culturally sensitive support that aligns with both local regulations and the organization’s faith-based mission.
Moving Forward with Faith and Purpose
As the ministry looks ahead, the vision remains clear: to see children thrive in families, churches actively engaged in care, and partnerships working together for lasting impact. The progress of the past year has laid a strong foundation. With intentional partnership development, holistic care, and faithful service, the coming year holds promise for even deeper transformation—for children, families, and communities alike.
How You Can Be Part of the Story
The work of caring for vulnerable children is not done alone—it is carried forward through prayer, partnership, and generosity. As we step into the year ahead, we invite you to join us in the following ways:
🙏 Pray
Pray for churches and families to open their hearts to welcoming children and teenagers in need of safe, temporary homes. Pray for wisdom and perseverance for Ecuador’s government leaders as they continue the transition toward foster care. Pray for the children and teens still waiting for a family, and for the staff and foster families walking alongside them each day. Ask God to raise up intercessors and provide everything needed—strength, compassion, and hope.
🤝 Partner
Whether you are part of a church, organization, or simply someone passionate about caring for children, there is a place for you in this mission. Partnership can look like prayer support, advocacy, hosting visits, sharing the story of foster care, or walking alongside the ministry in long-term relationship. Together, we can strengthen families and build sustainable systems of care.
💝 Give
Financial support makes it possible to train foster families, support staff, equip churches, and provide holistic care for children from hard places. Your generosity directly impacts lives—helping ensure that children experience safety, dignity, and the love of Christ within a family environment.
As we look ahead, we do so with gratitude for what God has already done and faith for what is still to come. Thank you for standing with us as we work toward a future where every child can grow up in a loving home.
